This two day training camp aims to get novices comfortably sailing two-up in dinghies. It teaches juniors to sail with assistance - normally two-up in a single-hander. Course includes: launching and recovery, steering, parts of the boat and basic sailing eg, sailing across the windand upwind sailing. With plenty of time on the water and plenty of games, you children will gain much needed confidence to go on to the next level.
Compact Course Option: Short compact course options are available - gain RYA stage 1 over two short days (4 hours each day) from 09:30-13:30) £120. This is the pre-requisite course for membership to Saturday Club and will enable you to hire kit to sail, where you will be able to further develop your skills. Juniors continue to sail two-up, learning how to sail a triangular course and sail unassisted. Course includes: basic sailing skills, rope work, collision avoidance. This fun packed traiing camp will provide children with plenty of water time and theory knowledge to successfully achieve the RYA Stage 2. It is recommended that students have attended the Beginner Training camp or have had some practice sessions at Junior Club. Alternative practice can be achieved by attendance at Junior Club, Youth Night or Summer Camp.
Compact Course Option: RYA Stage 2 can be taken as an 8 hour, 2 half day training course (09:£0-13:30) for the price of £120, however, the certficate can only be granted for those that have successfully reached the skill level. This course can be booked as a Compact Course from the drop down menu further down the page.
Our four day training camp offers variety and games and plenty of water time to enable students to confidently gain the RYA Stage 1 and 2 certificates. The camps run from Monday to Thursday in one week, or over two consecutive weeks. It is only currently possible to book the 1 & 2 over four consecutive days online. If you wish to book the package over two consecutive weeks please call the centre. Book the two above courses together as a package and save with the package discount.
Compact Course Package: The RYA Stage 1 & 2 Package can be undertaken as a compact course package - however, we cannot guarantee that all students will achieve the RYA Stage 2 certificate. Price £210
This is a skill packed training camp, covering aspects of the RYA Junior Dinghy Stage 3 and 4 syllabus and providing coaching towards that goal. This course is a training courses designed to progress students through the syllabus at their own pace. Ideally they will come out of this course with a Stage 3 certificate or a clear goal to aim towards and a specific action plan of what they need to work on to complete the syllabus. A Stage 3 Certificate will be issued where possible (upon demonstration of a Stage 3 competency). RYA Junior Dinghy Stage 3 is an introduction to the 'five essentials' and sailing single handers. Course includes: rigging, launching and recovery, sailing techniques, capsize recovery, sailing theory. At this stage, students will be sailing on their own in a single handed dinghy.

Compact Course Option: RYA Stage 4 can be undertaken as a shorter (8 hours over 2 mornings) training course, a qualification will only be given if students achieve the skill level.
This course provides the skills youngsters need to excel in sailing. Skills attained are recorded in the youth logbook under the Seamanship Skills and Spinnaker sections. A further advanced course would be required to complete the youth Seamanship Skills course. It includes advanced boat handling skills, use of asymmetric spinnaker and racing.
Juniors' Saturday Club - once qualified in a sport (RYA, BCU), juniors can become members and attend the Juniors Club that is held every Saturday morning between 9.30 and 11.30am. Junior Club is a great way for kids to start the weekend and meet other enthusiasts in their sport. Membership fees are minimal and Junior Club attendees receive use of all equipment at reduced costs and can practice under the careful supervision of qualified instructors. Please ask the team for membership details and rates - starts March.
Youth Night - Youth membership allows attendance to Youth Night that takes place on Wednesdays and is open to all young people over 13 who are minimum stage 3 youth scheme or level 1 adult scheme in their sport. T15 windsurfing race training and dinghy race training also take place at this time.
This 'pre-junior' course is designed to build water and sailing confidence for younger juniors, and orientated around a variety of games and fun exercises, often with up to 4 in a single hander or Fun Boat Catamaran.
We have had some many requests to offer a next step for the intro students that are still too young to start our Youth Scheme. So here it is. A two day compact course that will take your little one confidently to the next stage of sailing,
They will continue to build water and sailing confidence and be able to steer the boat and control it's speed. If the conditions are perfect they will also learn to turn the boat around and perform a tack.
We are sure they will love it... and they will get a chance to progress from the funboat to a pico.
This introduction to dinghy sailing - RYA Start Dinghy Sailing Course - has been created specifically for those of you that are new to the sport of dinghy sailing. The course is designed to get you on the water using modern, single-handed dinghies, and using RYA coaching techniques. It aims to provide you with a variety of skills and theory to enable you to sail competently around a triangular course. Plenty of time is spent helming your boat under the careful guidance of our instructors. Upon completion it allows the student to hire equipment with parental/guardian permission to further develop your skills. Weekend availability is on adult courses at the adult price rate.
This RYA Basic Skills Course is for teenagers that have completed the Start Dinghy Sailing course, or those with some sailing experience who wish to advance their skills. This training course moves on from the level 1 by teaching more advanced techniques in a variety of craft.

This RYA Better Sailing course is a direct stepping stone from Level 2, here we develop use of the five essentials and introduce new more advanced skills. We give you a taste of seamanship skills, spinnaker sailing and racing. It aims to develop your use of the five essentials for sailing; introduces helm & crew seamanship skills & theory; introduction to using the spinnaker; introduction to racing; in depth coverage of rigging, launching & recovery.
