Extreme Heat Notice 2022
Climate emergency means that we are going to experience more extreme weather events in the UK. During such times, there is a much higher risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and sunburn. Being on the water, doing watersports is often considered a natural way to cool down in the heat and we are keen to facilitate our members in pursuing their sports during this time. However we also want to ensure we minimise any risk posed by operating in such high temperatures.
We wanted to let you know that we have introduced further operating procedures to manage this risk especially when temperatures rise above 30 degrees. This includes moving land based elements to the shade; ensuring that students are kept under shade during breaks; ensuring additional breaks are taken to enable rehydration. And, in the case of temperatures above 37.7 degrees, we shorten water sessions to 50 minutes times slots with rehydration and shade breaks in between. In certain situations we reserve the right to run courses without wetsuits as long as appropriate sun protection clothing is worn under a buoyancy aid. (Swimwear alone will not suffice if it doesn't cover upper body and shoulders).
Covid-19 Precautions
With covid restrictions no longer officially in place we have adjusted our covid-safe requirements. We request that if you have symptoms and are booked on an activity to give us a call so we can rearrange your session.
Visitors do not need to wear a mask but are welcome to if they feel more comfortable.
We will continue to have hand sanitiser available and will continue with our regular cleaning regimes.
We will also remain paper and cash free. So all bookings must be paid in advance online through our booking system. We are not accepting cash payments or payments on the day.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
