This option is the first day of the RYA Start Windsurf course. You will cover everything that you would on that first day of the course, which will include simulator work on the land, small pieces of theory to compliment the practical aspects of the course, but predominantly this course will get you out on the water and give plenty of practice time to enable you to sail and turn around, safely launch, and get to know your kit. The aim is for you to get a feel for windsurfing to inform your decision on whether it is something you would like to pursue. And the beauty of this course is that once you've done the intro you don't need to go away and do a whole Start Windsurfing course, you can simply book onto the second day of any RYA Start Windsurfing course that we are running.
This course has been created specifically for those of you that are new to the sport of windsurfing, and is designed to get you on the water, help you enjoy the sport and give you a firm foundation from which to practice and progress from. With some of the most recent, user-friendly windsurfing equipment we will instruct you using the latest RYA coaching techniques in order to introduce you to the basic elements of windsurfing that will enable you to sail and turn around confidently and safely. The course consists of simulator training, plenty of on-water coaching and some theory.
This RYA Intermediate Improver Course is the perfect introduction to intermediate skills and is designed for people who have just completed a beginners course, or who have some previous windsurfing experience, perhaps on a holiday, and want to further their skills and knowledge. It is predominantly a training course that will ground you in the basic skills of the Fastfwd Formula; you will become familiar with the five elements of the formula (vision, trim, balance, power and stance) and learn how to apply them in all areas of your windsurfing; we focus on improving stance, getting to grips with the harness, and an introduction to more dynamic transitions like fast tacks, and gybes as well as leaving the shore in style; students move onto faster boards and performance sails, as well as gaining a greater sense of windsurfing safety.
This RYA Intermediate - Progression course covers a broad spectrum of skills. It is the perfect next step for anyone who has completed the Improver course, or who has used the harness and wishes to develop towards their planing skills. It can be revisited as a clinic for those wishing to work on specific skills such as footstraps, gybes, tacks and stance because it builds on each individuals existing knowledge. This course is ideal as an assessment for those looking to gain the RYA Intermediatenon-planing or planing certificate.
We use the Fastfwd Formula to develop use of the harness and introduce footstraps; practice and develop the non planing carve gybe; using the Fastfwd Formula we will provide you with all the skills required for handling larger sails and lower volume boards in stronger winds; the course content includes rigging, launching and recovery, harness work, footstraps, power control and planing skills.
